Welcome to the Batesville Market!

The Batesville Market will be reopening for regular hours on Saturday, May 6th (Batesville Day!). Until then we will continue to host Saturday evening music events every Saturday from 5:30-9pm. Please check our events page for the upcoming schedule.

Help us reopen the store by buying store credit!

Contribute to our GoFundMe and receive store credit for the amount of your contribution. We need to raise enough seed capital buy retail stock, like groceries, convenience items and deli food, and to pay our staff during the startup period. Our business model is to reach sustainability within one year of opening… the Market will be fully self-sustaining by then. Store credit is good for anything in the store, including food, drinks, music events, milk, eggs and chicken feed. You just can’t spend it all in the first month!

Visit us in historic Batesville

Batesville, Virginia, is located on the beautiful old Plank Road that historically connected the Shenandoah Valley to the James River, transporting goods then to Richmond. We are about 20 minutes from Crozet, Charlottesville or Waynesboro, and conveniently located between Monticello and Wintergreen, near the Pipin Hill Farm and Vineyards, Veritas Vineyards, Pollak Vineyards, King Family Vineyards, Cardinal Point and half a dozen other local wineries.

The Batesville Market is located at the corner of Plank Road and Craig’s Store Road in the Batesville Historic District. Constructed around 1900, it has had several incarnations, originally as the Charles Joseph Store, then for three generations as the Page’s Store. More recently it has been known as the Batesville Store and the Plank Road Exchange, and is now is the Batesville Market.
